Although it doesn’t have many Marvel movies in its catalog – since most of the company’s projects are on Disney+ – Netflix makes available to its users a variety of films by the MCU stars, from acclaimed works to forgotten features.
In the Marvel universe, Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool. The MCU bosses have already confirmed that the anti-hero’s next film will represent his introduction into the shared universe.

While Deadpool’s new movie doesn’t premiere, Ryan Reynolds fans can check out Netflix for another interesting performance by the actor with Jeff Bridges, who was in Iron Man.
We explain below everything you need to know about RIPD – Agents of Beyond.
The plot of RIPD – Agents of Beyond
RIPD – Agents From Beyond – released under the original title RIPD: Rest in Peace Department – is a comedy, action, fantasy film that premiered in 2013, long before Ryan Reynolds released his first solo film like Deadpool.
Starring Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, the film is based on the comic book of the same name, released by Peter M. Lenkoy. The director was Robert Schwentke, known for films such as Red: Retired and Dangerous and I’ll Love You Forever.
The film follows the story of agents Roy Pulsifer (Bridges) and Nick Walker (Reynolds), members of the RIPD security forces, a kind of police department for spirits and monsters.
The department’s goal is to find spirits and creatures disguised as humans, trying to escape doomsday.
When Roy and his new partner uncover a conspiracy that could wipe out the entire human race, the pair must find a way to restore cosmic balance – or face the destruction of the physical and astral worlds.
The cast of RIPD
The cast of RIPD – Agents from Beyond, is headed by Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges.
Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski) plays Roy Pulsifer, a former Civil War soldier who becomes a veteran RIPD officer
Reynolds the Deadpool, meanwhile, plays Nick Walker. The character is a Boston police detective who becomes Roy’s partner after being murdered.
Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) plays Mildred Proctor, the head of the RIPD department in Boston.
Kevin Bacon (On Boys and Wolves) plays Bobby Hayes, the Boston police chief, who hides a terrible secret.
The film’s cast is completed by Stéphanie Szostak (The Devil Wears Prada), Marisa Miller (How I Met Your Mother), James Hong (Chinatown), Devin Ratray (Forgot Me), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Mike O’ Malley (Shameless) and Larry Joe Campbell (Euphoria).
Was the movie successful?
Perhaps the fact that RIPD – Agents of the Beyond is “hidden” on Netflix isn’t exactly a bad thing.
The film established itself as a true failure in all aspects, being considered one of the worst films released in Hollywood in 2013.
With a budget of $130 million, the film grossed just $78 million at its worldwide box office.
According to Deadline, the loss was even greater, as the film would have spent over 25 million on taxes and advertising.
The film’s critical reception was also terrible. To date, the film has only 13% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, even being called “the worst adaptation of a movie comic since Jonah Hex”.
“RIPD innovates by finding new ways to be absolutely terrible. The plot is completely predictable and at the same time it doesn’t make sense. It seems that this film was born from an LSD trip”, commented the critic of The New York Post.
